Mexico does not have any land based casinos to speak of. If you look for casinos in Mexico you will find a few places listed. When you try to find out more information about them, you find they have one or two slot machines, and that is it. With all of the resorts in the country, none of them has a casino. Now Fiesta Cruise Line is changing all of that with the introduction of a new floating casino. The new floating , the first of its kind in Mexico, is due to open in a few days off the coast of Veracruz. It will be the first of its kind. Investor and Fiesta Cruise Line president James Monahan has plans for five other floating casinos in different parts of Mexico. Mexican law prohibits land based casinos but says nothing about floating casinos.
The new floating casino, when it opens, will have 525 slot machines, twelve tables for craps and another twelve for blackjack. There will be two tables for and ten for baccarat. There will also be ten tables for Hold’em poker. The company is hoping to attract customers from both Mexico and the United States.
One of the positive aspects of the floating casino is that it will provide jobs. They have currently hired three hundred people and have plans to hire another one or two hundred.
So far the floating casino has been able to obtain the permits that it requires because it is not functioning on the land. |
